Mr Mfazo Hove graduated with a first class degree from the University of Liverpool in 2002. He began his ophthalmology career in Eastbourne in 2003 as a senior house officer followed by a two year rotation through St Thomas Foundation University Hospital.
He then spent over two years at Moorfields Eye Hospital as a cataract research fellow doing research on multifocal lenses, which led to a MD qualification. His registrar training was initially in Bath and Bristol. He then completed his training in the North Thames ophthalmology rotation.
Mr Hove has fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital in medical retina, cataracts and eye casualty. He has worked as a locum consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital in both the cataract and eye casualty service before taking up his current post as a substantive consultant at the Western Eye Hospital where he is also the high volume cataract surgery lead.
Mr Hove has completed over 5000 intra-ocular procedures including more than 2000 refractive surgery procedures. In 2017, Mr Hove passed the Royal College Examination in laser and refractive surgery.
Privately Mr Hove’s main interest is refractive surgery. He performs refractive lens exchanges, LASIK, LASEK and Phakic ICLs. He is at the forefront of bilateral simultaneous cataract/lens replacement surgery which is NICE approved. He has more than 350 verified patient reviews on Doctify.
