Mr Ramu Muniraju has practiced ophthalmology for 20 years. He specialises in cataract surgery under topical anaesthesia, and is interested in Diabetic eye disease, Macular degeneration, and other retinal disorders. He completed his fellowship training at Kings College Hospital, and at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
He’s a substantive Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the research and macular degeneration lead for the department. He’ll be joining Epsom and St. Helier’s University Hospitals NHS Trust shortly.
Mr Muniraju an active teacher, and is the faculty and trains junior doctors in microsurgical skills and cataract surgery. He is Examiner for Royal College exams (FRCOphth and FRCS). He researches heavily, and is the chief investigator for multicentre clinical trial on diabetic macular oedema. Mr Muniraju has publications in peer reviewed journals on macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
