Spotlight on Yusra Yahya
London Medical Receptionist
This week we caught up with London Medical receptionist Yusra Yahya who has worked at our clinic for six years. Yusra discusses the joy that comes with going above and beyond for patients and how she and her team will always help with answering questions so patients can feel confident that they are there to support them during their visit to London Medical.
"Hello, my name is Yusra, and I am one of the receptionists here at London Medical. I have been here for six years and have loved every moment. In my role I get to meet patients every day and to welcome back ones that have been here many years. It is such a pleasure to be able to help them on their journey to improve their health.
It can sometimes be a bit daunting for patients coming to a clinic to see a consultant or have tests but I really enjoy welcoming them all with a big smile and helping to put them at ease. This always starts by listening carefully to what the patient has to say.
This may involve explaining how their visit here will work or trying to explain something they have not understood. We try to make sure that throughout their visit the patient always feels as if we are there to support them, to make everything run smoothly and to ensure they have a good experience.

We are a close knit team and we help each other all the time. If I cannot answer a question then the team around me is always there to help or I can help one of my colleagues. If there is a question for the nurses for example, they always give me detailed explanations which help me to learn and to look after our patients better.
As I speak Arabic I sometimes get called into consultations to help translate when the patient needs this assistance and I know that this makes the experience much easier for them. It makes me feel very proud to work at London Medical. Every day is new and interesting. I went on maternity leave two years ago but I always knew that I would be coming back. When I did return it was as if I hadn’t been away. I was very happy as it felt like I was coming home to my family. That’s how we want our patients to feel and I believe they do because of the care and attention that we give to everyone."
