      About Carin Hume

      Carin Hume is a consultant dietitian at London Medical. She completed her dietetics degree at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, followed by obtaining an MSc in Sports Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

      Carin has extensive experience in Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes, including a special interest in exercise and Type 1 diabetes, and has provided support to many professional and recreational athletes.. She also has a special interest in gut health and digestive disorders and is passionate about helping people with conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerances, MCAS, and inflammatory bowel disease.

      Carin has completed ongoing studies in the dietary management of gut disorders (including FODMAP diet training), eating disorders, as well as training in functional medicine with the Kresser Institute, and is an Adapt Trained Practitioner.   Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, engaging both the patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership and addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.  Compassion and highly individualised care is at the heart of Carin’s approach to working with her patients.

      Carin Hume is passionate about focusing on a client’s lifestyle and addresses diet in addition to other aspects such as sleep, physical activity, stress management and habits.
