        About Dr Frankel

        Dr Andrew Frankel has been a Consultant Nephrologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust since 1995 and has extensive experience in the management of all aspects of kidney disease.

        He has particular expertise in ecially the management of kidney disease associated with diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. His clinical focus is on early diagnosis, preserving kidney function and preventing progression of chronic kidney disease using evidence-based and modern kidney-protective therapies.

        • cardio-renal-metabolic disease
        • prevention of CKD progression

        Dr Frankel has a longstanding research and academic interest in diabetic kidney disease and has published extensively in this field. He has played a major role in developing UK national guidelines relating to diabetes and kidney disease and was joint editor of the UK Kidney Association guidelines on the use of SGLT2 inhibitors in adults with chronic kidney disease.

        He is a regular invited speaker at national and international meetings and works closely with GPs, diabetologists, cardiologists and other specialists to provide coordinated and personalised care for patients with complex kidney conditions.
