      About Dr Khaled Mallek

      Dr Khaled Mallek is an esteemed consultant interventional and general cardiologist, specialising in complex coronary interventions and chronic total occlusions. He is also highly regarded in all aspects of general cardiology, including management of chest pain, hypertension, shortness in breath, palpitations, and high cholesterol.

      Dr Mallek completed his primary medical degree in Ain Shams University, Cairo in 2002. He then obtained his master’s degree in cardiology and doctorate degree in cardiovascular medicine from the same university. Dr Mallek completed his cardiology training program in the UK and undertook his interventional cardiology training at St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College Hospital, and St George’s Hospital. He also completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle.

      Dr Mallek has multiple peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals, primarily focusing on cardiovascular interventions. Additionally, he has delivered multiple presentations at both UK and international cardiology meetings. He was also awarded a competitive grant from the Egyptian Government to undertake his fellowship in the UK.

      Following his appointment as a consultant at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, he developed and led the chronic total occlusion and the complex coronary interventions programs. He is also the governance lead in the department.

      Dr Mallek has a great experience in coronary procedures, including coronary angiography, intracoronary imaging using IVUS and OCT, and coronary physiology. He is an expert in performing coronary angioplasty, including complex coronary intervention, rotational atherectomy, and shockwave therapy. His special interest is in chronic total occlusions.
