About Dr Chen
Dr Mimi Chen is a Consultant Endocrinologist with over 20 years experiences at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at City St George’s, University of London.
She specialises in diabetes, obesity, general endocrinology and cardio-renal-metabolic medicine, with expertise in hybrid closed-loop insulin pump therapy, weight management, hormonal disorders and metabolic risk reduction. Awarded a PhD by the University of Bristol for research into the effect of bariatric surgery on pancreatic function, type 2 diabetes and obesity. Dr Chen combines specialist clinical expertise, academic leadership and personalised patient care.
Dr Chen supports patients seeking preventative health assessments, metabolic optimisation and specialist management of endocrine and metabolic conditions. Her approach focuses on identifying risks early, preventing future complications and developing practical treatment plans tailored to each individual.
Dr Chen has a particular interest in Cardio-Renal-Metabolic Medicine, integrating diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular health, kidney protection, blood pressure and cholesterol management. Working closely with leading cardiology colleagues, she provides comprehensive assessments aimed at reducing future risk and improving long-term health.
Dr Chen is actively involved in research, medical education and NHS service innovation. She has published internationally in diabetes, obesity and metabolic medicine and maintains academic collaborations with leading institutions, including Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH).
Dr Chen is fluent in Mandarin and can provide consultations in either English or Mandarin. She understands both UK and Chinese healthcare systems and regularly supports international and Chinese-speaking patients.
