About Dr Haldar
I am an experienced Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals with a specialist interest in the management of patients with abnormal heart rhythms. I gained my medical degree at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School (now part of King’s College London) and then completed my cardiology training in the North-West Thames rotation. I did my postgraduate degree (MD Res) at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London. I was awarded the prestigious Mirium L Burnett Fellowship in Electrophysiology and Devices at the University of Toronto which helped me further his experience and training by working alongside world-renowned experts in this field.
I regularly treat patients with cardiac problems and symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, blackouts, chest pain, shortness of breath, family history of cardiac disease, high blood pressure and heart murmurs.
I provide a full range of diagnostic investigations to assess heart rhythm abnormalities including ectopic (extra) beats, bradycardias, supraventricular tachycardias, atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias. I also provide interventional treatments including catheter ablation, insertion of pacemakers, defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronisation therapy. I have a particular interest in catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation.
I have performed over 1,000 catheter ablation procedures and device implantations as a Consultant Cardiologist. I pride myself in effective communication with patients taking time to explain tests and treatments and ensuring that patients are fully informed and involved in all aspects of their care. I use my expertise to provide a rapid diagnosis of your cardiac symptoms and work with you to devise a personalised treatment plan that you are comfortable with and at the highest standard of care.
I am an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London and an active researcher in cardiac arrythmias, atrial fibrillation and digital health. I am passionate about medical education and my work over the last decade at the British Cardiovascular Society has helped to deliver and strategize high quality education to the cardiology workforce. I am now Vice-President (Elect) of Education for the national British Cardiovascular Society as well as National Program Director for the Heart Rhythm Congress. I take huge pride in my patient facing care and am proud that my patient advocacy work for the Arrythmia Alliance charity has helped patients better equip themselves to manage living with their conditions
