Professor Thomas F. Lüscher

About Professor Lüscher

He is interested in many areas of adult cardiology including interventional cardiology, rhythmology, echocardiography, heart failure, acute cardiac care, and sports cardiology.

His personal clinical activity mainly concentrates on the care of outpatients with cardiac disease including general cardiology, in particular coronary artery disease, hypertension, lipids and other risk factors and heart failure.

Professor Lüscher is a board-certified internist and cardiologist with training in internal medicine at the University Hospital Zurich, cardiovascular physiology and cardiology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA and in cardiology and clinical pharmacology at the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland. Prior to his current position he was Professor of Pharmacotherapy at the University of Basel, then Professor and vice-chairman of cardiology at the Inselspital of the University of Berne, Switzerland and Director of the Heart Center at the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland.

NHS and Academic Posts

Part-time private practice at London Medical. He is also Chairman of Research, Education & Development and Consultant of Cardiology at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital Trust and Imperial College, London. Director of the Centre for Molecular Cardiology at the University Zurich (Campus Schlieren).

Professor Lüscher delivers lectures and courses for medical students, Master as well as MD and PhD thesis, fellowship programmes as well as post-graduate courses in cardiology.
