Cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET)
At London Medical, we understand the importance of accurate, detailed testing when it comes to understanding your heart and lung health.
Whether you’re preparing for surgery, managing a long-term condition, or simply want to better understand your fitness levels, our CPET gives a clear picture of how your heart and lungs respond when you’re active.
What is a CPET?
Also known as an exercise tolerance test, a CPET is used to see how efficiently your heart, lungs and muscles work when your body is under physical stress.
During the test, you’ll be asked to walk on a treadmill or cycle on a stationary bike. At the same time, we’ll closely monitor your heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels, blood pressure and other key readings.
This is different from standard check-ups carried out while you’re resting. A CPET helps identify how your body responds to movement and can uncover problems that may not be noticeable when you’re at rest.
