      Doctor Tzifa is a fully trained Paediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Cardiologist with more than 23 years’ experience in the field.

      She subspecializes in congenital heart disease echocardiography, interventions and peri-operative imaging.

      Doctor Aphrodite Tzifa studied Medicine at the University of Athens and moved to the UK in 1996, where she specialized in Paediatrics and subspecialized in Paediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. She has trained in interventional cardiology for congenital heart disease, as well as structural interventions for adults with cardiac shunts and valvular leaks. Beyond cardiac interventions, she has received training in cardiac MRI for congenital heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, adult congenital heart disease and fetal Cardiology. She has completed training posts in Cardiac and Paediatric Intensive Care Units and has extensive experience over the past 23 yrs in the perioperative management of cardiac patients. 

      Following completion of her Specialist training in Paediatric Cardiology, funded by the London Deanery, she was awarded a clinical Fellowship by the Biomedical Research Council at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and worked on the world-first clinical trial on MRI-guided percutaneous cardiac interventions. In April 2010 Dr Tzifa became an Honorary Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust. In October 2010 she returned to her home country and took up the post of Chief of Interventional Congenital Cardiology at Mitera Hospital, Hygeia Hospitals Group. She became the Director of Paediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Dpt at Mitera Hospital in August 2013. Under her Directorship, the Congenital Cardiac Service expanded with complex transcatheter structural procedures, specialist cardiac MRIs for congenital heart disease and 10.000 Outpatient clinic investigations per annum, of which approximately 8000 Echocardiograms. She has a strong research interest in Interventional Paediatric Cardiology and cardiac MRI / interventional MRI and has published extensively in the field.
