About Dr Ghosh

Debashis Ghosh is one of London’s prestigious breast surgeons. He works from the Royal Free Hospital in London and UCL Medical School which houses one of the world’s foremost breast units.

Mr. Ghosh graduated from Grant Medical College, Bombay University, India in 1991 with an MBBS (1st class honours). His Higher Specialist Training was completed in Breast & Oncoplastic Surgery at University Hospitals of Leicester, Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge & Peterborough. His post CCT Fellowship was undertaken at the Royal Free Hospital London. He has spent time in many leading European centres training as a Visiting Fellow.

He has the distinctive honour of holding a dual qualification from the European Board of Surgery in Breast & Surgical Oncology.

Mr. Ghosh is a very active member of the research community; he has previously pioneered a technique using a portable gamma camera for sentinel node biopsies. He is also involved in many high-profile trials at the Royal Free Hospital and UCL Medical School including a trial examining the use of intraoperative radiotherapy, radioactive iodine and seed localisation. Most recently, he has been working on a clinical trial looking at the use of fluorescence in cancer surgery.
