Health screening at London Medical
Health screening takes place in London’s Medical’s comfortable, discreet outpatient clinic. A range of non-invasive tests are available from London Medical’s laboratory and the state-of-the-art imaging suite. The supportive staff will guide you through the screening process and will always take time to answer your questions and address any concerns.
General health checks start with a consultation with a specialist nurse who will take a range of baseline measurements. The specific tests will depend on the health check you have chosen but could include:
- Measurement of height, weight and calculation of your Body Mass Index (BMI).
- Measurement of blood pressure to check for hypertension.
- ECG to check heart rate, rhythm and function.
- Urinalysis to check for glucose, blood, protein and other abnormalities.
- Spirometer to evaluate lung function and check for conditions such as asthma or COPD.
- Eye tests to check visual acuity and colour blindness.
- Questionnaire to assess your mental health, stress levels and wellbeing.
A blood sample will be taken and sent to the laboratory for analysis. The baseline blood tests include a full blood count to detect anaemia, a lipid profile, blood sugar levels to check for diabetes and biochemical tests to check the function of your kidneys and liver. Cutting-edge investigations are also available to screen for cardiac risk, diabetes, ovarian and prostate cancers.
